Srinagar, Jun 26 (KNO): Ministry of Education (MoE) has asked to Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department to tag those government institutions that lack playground facilities with the neighboring schools having existing playgrounds. The MoE said this in a Project Approval Board (PAB) for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir under Samagra Shiksha Scheme for the financial year 2023-24. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), MoE while reviewing the sports and playground matter said, “If the play ground facilities are not there in the schools then the UT should tagged these schools with the neighbouring schools which have playground facilities.” The ministry has also asked to report that tagged data on UDISE+ so that the Department of School Education and Literacy will attach these schools to the nearby existing playgrounds. Besides, the MoE while mentioning the infrastructural matters said that the boys and girls' toilet, drinking water facility, electricity and the libraries should be saturated in all the government schools especially in the aspirational districts. About the Initiatives taken by Jammu and Kashmir, the concerned authorities from the UT informed that it has taken the initiative of providing a computer lab with smart class facilities in all the 23,283 Schools of the UT. “Schools falling in educationally backwards blocks and those falling in the habitations of tribal areas have been selected for digital initiatives on priority,” it reads. The Jammu and Kashmir government further informed MoE that “So far 1420 CAL Centers have been established at Upper Primary School level and 1588 ICT labs at Secondary and Higher Secondary Level and are functional till date.”—(KNO)
